A Big Thanks to Our Community Supporters!

Local Grocery Store Safeway

Safeway in Severna Park, MD, held a store grand re-opening ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday March 18, 2017. As part of their tradition of giving back to the community they serve, they chose a local non-profit organization whose mission aligns with their charitable area of focus. SPAN was chosen and was presented with a $2500 check to help our neighbors in need.

Boy Scouts from Troop 918

On Saturday March 18, 2017, boy scouts Jacob John and Tyler Knox held a food drive at Giant Food in Severna Park, to benefit SPAN.  Through their efforts and the generosity of our neighbors, the boys collected a car full of food and $187 in cash donations.  Thank you!

How We Help

How We Help

How SPAN Helps Eligibility Requirements On April 2, 1990, the Severna Park Assistance Network (SPAN) opened its doors to local area families in crisis. SPAN was formed because of the concern on the part of the ministers in the Severna Park area with regard to the growing demand for emergency help, the need to identify the people seeking help, and a process to help those people in a dignified and expeditious manner. Before that, those needing assistance would be forced to go from church to church. SPAN enabled them to find that same resource in one place. For over 25 years SPAN has been serving our neighbors to help them through a critical or emergency situation such as utility turn-offs, court-ordered evictions, and prescription/medical needs and food. SPAN’s primary service areas include: Severna Park, Millersville, Arnold and the Broadneck Peninsula. (Residents of SPAN’s … Read more...
