The only way SPAN is able to help local families in crisis with financial assistance and food is because we have the most AMAZING and LOYAL volunteers, who work tirelessly out of the goodness of their hearts. On November 3, we were grateful for the opportunity to thank them at our Volunteer Appreciation Brunch.
Thanks to Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, Severna Park, who provided the space (and who provides us our SPAN house!), and to Billy L Greer of Jing Ying Institute of Kung Fu & Tai Chi for treating attendees to a Tai Chi demonstration. Guests received a delicious meal from April’s Table and a beautiful blue nalgene water bottle emblazoned with the SPAN logo and filled with treats!
Thank you Wright Orthodontics and Dr. Albert Sindall for your very generous donation of toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash. Oral health is often neglected when families face financial crisis, so these supplies are greatly appreciated!
We had so much fun at the Greater Severna Park & Arnold Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament at Chartwell Golf & Country Club! Many thanks to Re/Max Executive Severna Park for sponsoring the 9th hole, and choosing SPAN, Inc. as designated charity for the pro shot.
We are proud to say that almost every foursome contributed to our cause, and we raised $570! Best of all, this money will be used to help families in crisis in our own community. Thanks to all who participated!
Thank you Benfield Elementary School for
your generous donation of a van-load full of food and drinks!
Local communities Oakleigh Forest and Manhattan Beach are a blessing to SPAN!
We recently received food and financial donations from the
Oakleigh Forest Community Association from their Pig Roast’s
50/50 raffle, and from the Manhattan Beach, Maryland community
for their Chili Cookoff! To make it even more special, the winner
of the 50/50 raffle, Tim Staines, donated his winnings back
to SPAN, for a grand total of $550 from both neighborhoods!
Thank you Severna Park Giant Food and Manager Beau Withers
for your generous donation of frozen meat.
Your generosity makes a huge difference in the
lives of our neighbors in need!
Thank you to Severna Park Middle School’s 8th-grade Team Marylanders for bringing SPAN three carloads of food donations for a community service project! Since summer brings an increased need for food, we are extremely grateful for the timing of these donations. Math teacher Kendra Schauppner organized this collection along with Terrie Hartman, Patty DeLeat, Christine Torelli and a whole lot of generous students and parents. Food pantry volunteers helping are Keith Brady, Pat Blanchfield and Pam Hicks. Thanks to you, we are making a difference every day!
On Saturday March 18, 2017, boy scouts Jacob John and Tyler Knox held a food drive at Giant Food in Severna Park, to benefit SPAN. Through their efforts and the generosity of our neighbors, the boys collected a car full of food and $187 in cash donations. Thank you!
