A Party for SPAN
A Party For SPAN!
Last fall, Allie, a rising sixth grader, and her mom read the book I am Malala together, a story that touched Allie’s heart and inspired her to learn more about helping others and wanting to help families who are struggling every day.
Allie, a student at Severn School, learned about SPAN and our mission through a food drive sponsored by students in Severn’s upper school. She was so impressed with the students collecting over 10,000 items for SPAN’s food bank; it was an easy jump for Allie to ask guests attending her 10th birthday party to bring a gift for SPAN! Through the generosity of friends, Allie and her mom brought bags of food to SPAN filled with dried pasta, canned vegetables and tuna, pancake mix, and other items. The amazing thing about asking friends to come together to help is that every friend’s small contribution adds up and is much more than any of us could do on our own. A party is a fun way to make a difference!
